Mothers as Nuturers

Motherhood is hard. It just is. I often feel like this. Ran ragged, discouraged and overwhelmed by trying to not survive but thrive while smack in the middle of it. Sometimes I am a little mad at my mom for making it look so easy. We are woman, made completely different than man on purpose to fulfill the role of Nurturer to Heavenly Father's beloved children he has sent down to earth for us to raise and hopefully not damage too much.
In the church we are praised and held on a pedal stool of sorts for the impact and importance that we can and DO have on our children's lives. I love listening to Relief Society Broadcast where we are praised and encouraged to do more and not give up and stay strong in the course not only for our children but ourselves so we can progress eternally and be able to have these families we have sacrificed so much for on earth forever in the eternities as well.
Elder Richard G. Scott said "That Satan has unleashed a seductive campaign to undermine the sanctity of womanhood, to deceive the daughters of God and divert them from their divine destiny. He well knows women are the compassionate, self- sacrificing, loving power that bind together the human family.. Read more from that talk entitled "The Sanctity of Womanhood" HERE
All I ever wanted to do and be was a mom when I grew up so I honestly never have been tempted to put an career above being a mother or buy into that worldly feminism stuff about being more then just a homemaker because that is all I have ever wanted to do. Personally, I feel like I can relate to the other ways Satan tries to distract and discourage us as mothers by letting myself think I am not doing enough, as a mother for my children. In Elder Ballard's talk "Daughters of God" found HERE
There is no one perfect way to be a good mother. Each situation is unique. Each mother has different challenges, different skills and abilities, and certainly different children. The choice is different and unique for each mother and each family. What matters is that a mother loves her children deeply and, in keeping with the devotion she has for God and her husband, prioritizes them above all else.
Although it is easy to forget we all need to remember that if we put Heavenly Father and are Family first, we will be able to do it and do it well.
