Marriage

When you are lucky enough to find someone who you want to spend eternity with ... how can you make it to eternity without killing each other. Marriage is hard and it takes so much hard work, endurance and pure grit sometimes.

I think that this is the biggest thing that I have learned through out my 17 year marriage so far. It isn't always 50/50 sometimes one partner needs to to do more and try more in the relationship. I think that you need to always be willing to give your 100% to your spouse but also together to the Lord.
When you keep the Savior and his teachings in the focus of your marriage you are more likely to chose to be kinder, serve more and more determined to make it to eternity. Elder Hales explained to us " that an eternal bond doesn't just happen as a result of sealing covenants we make in the temple. How we conduct ourselves in this life will determine what we will be in all the eternities to come. To receive the blessing of the sealing that our Heavenly Father has given to us, we have to keep the commandments and conduct ourselves in such a way that our families will want to live with us in the eternities." This means we are not guaranteed our family forever after we get sealed in the temple, we have to put in the work here on earth as well. You can read about his advice on Eternal families HERE,
What are some things we can do to enrich and improve our marriage relationships?
1. Learn your partner's love language
2.Always talk as friends not only as parents
3.Listen to your partner when they are seeking a connection
4. Make effort to spend time with each other daily
5. Keep track of how we are feeling and if we feel we are connecting emotionally
6.Be Positive
7. Always date your mate (don't forget to keep up the courtship between your partner)
